Johnny Gayden is an Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland Baltimore School of Nursing. At UMSON, he helps prepare doctoral students for nurse anesthesia. In this role, Johnny provides didactic lectures and helps to prepare students for clinical practice through simulation training. Johnny also works at the VA Hospital in Baltimore, where he provides anesthesia care to veterans. His passion for the nurse anesthesia profession is evident in the multiple positions Johnny has held with the Maryland Association of Nurse Anesthetists, where he served as President from 2019 to 2020. He is president-elect for the Association of VA Nurse Anesthetists. MANA Political Action Committee (PAC) Treasurer and Federal Political Director (FPD) for MANA/AANA. He completed his Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) at Wilmington University in December 2022 and expects to complete his PhD from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Nursing Education in 2028. Johnny is the very proud father of a 6-year-old girl, Joya Sophia.
