Dr. Jacqueline Mainwaring, PhD, DNP, MS, CRNA, CNE, is the Director of the Delaware Nurse Anesthesiology Program at ChristianaCare and Wilmington University, a new program currently in capability review. She has been a longtime advocate for nurse anesthetists in Delaware since graduating from the Medical College of Pennsylvania in 1996. She earned her DNP from Wilmington University in 2018 and a Ph.D. in Nursing Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2022. Dr. Mainwaring maintains an active clinical practice at a level-one trauma center in Delaware.
Deeply engaged in advocacy, Dr. Mainwaring has held several influential roles within the Delaware Association of Nurse Anesthetists (DANA), including serving as its President in 2021, a landmark year when Delaware achieved full practice authority for APRNs. She currently serves as Vice President on the Delaware Board of Nursing, where she contributes to protecting the public while shaping nursing practice and regulatory standards. Her involvement extends to chairing the Government Relations Committee for DANA and serving on the APRN Committee, reinforcing her commitment to advancing nurse anesthetist practice rights and professional standards.
With a career-long focus on addressing provider wellness, Dr. Mainwaring’s DNP Project and dissertation targeted stress, depression, burnout, and resilience among anesthesia professionals. Her leadership in these areas includes prior service on the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology’s Health and Wellness Committee. Through her teaching and advocacy, she aims to prepare skilled and compassionate CRNAs and inspire a culture of self-care and resilience among future practitioners.
