William “Bill” Bruce, MBA, CAE, has served as the Chief Executive Officer of the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (AANA) since 2022.
Bill has nearly 20 years of association executive experience. Prior to joining AANA he served as CEO of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, where he led the organization through a period of prolific change. He led a strategic reimagining of the entire organization’s governance structure and related procedures to introduce greater stability, strategic focus, transparency and inclusion to its leadership, and he ensured a steady voice for the organization across broader healthcare communities.
Bill’s executive experience also includes serving as Chief Technology Officer at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and as Chief Information Officer at the American Psychiatric Association.
A U.S. Navy veteran, Bill earned a master’s degree in business administration from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland and is an ASAE Certified Association Executive.
